
Syracuse Hosts Boston College in Midweek Matchup

Following an upset victory over No. 22 Louisville last weekend, the Syracuse University volleyball team returns home Wednesday for a midweek contest against Boston College. Action is set to begin at 5 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.

Due to other events on campus, free parking for fans will be available in the Manley North lot with courtesy shuttles to the Women's Building before and after the match.

THE MATCHUP
Boston College (13-11, 3-9 ACC) travels to Syracuse (13-7, 9-3 ACC) in hopes of improving its 2-8 road record. The Eagles are coming off a pair of 3-1 losses last weekend to Louisville and Notre Dame. Boston College ranks fourth in the ACC in digs per set (14.35) and opponent hitting percentage (.187). Despite its strong back row defense, the Eagles have given up the second most blocks (2.51) in the ACC this season.

Makenzie Morrison leads the Eagles from the backrow with 3.74 digs per set, ranking eighth in the ACC, while Cat Balido has a team-high 2.67 kills per set.

Syracuse is 33-9 all-time against Boston College, including a 7-3 record with both schools as members of the ACC. The Orange won both meetings last season.

Polina Shemanova and Ella Saada combined for 33 of the Orange's 58 kills in their victory Sunday over No. 22 Louisville. Shemanova recorded 19 kills followed by Saada's 14. With a .299 hitting percentage, Syracuse became the third team this season to record above a .295 hitting percentage against the Cardinals. In handing Louisville its second ACC loss of the season, Syracuse took the program's first win over a top-25 opponent since 2015.

Amber Witherspoon and Santita Ebangwese each recorded eight kills, while Dana Valelly surpassed her career-high with 29 assists.
