Orange Move Up Four Spots, Crack Top-10

For the first time in 2018 the Syracuse University field hockey team is top-10. The Orange moved up four spots to No. 9 in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll after a 2-0 week in front of a home crowd at J.S. Coyne Stadium. 'Cuse (8-4) has won five of its last six games most recently earning a double overtime win over then-ranked No. 8 Boston College (7-4) and a 4-2 victory over California.

The overtime thriller against the Eagles marked the first Atlantic Coast Conference win of the year for the Orange, and fourth overtime win this season. Three of those overtime wins have been played at Coyne.

Claire Cooke and Roos Weers each scored a pair of goals over the two-win weekend, Cooke's being her first and second collegiate goals. Borg van der Velde earned a pair of wins in goal for the Orange making eight saves.

The Orange return to action Saturday, Oct. 13 at Wake Forest for an ACC showdown. They will then travel to Durham, N.C., for a neutral site match against Liberty on Oct. 14 before returning home for the final regular season home game at Coyne on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
