
Field Hockey Ranked 20th in Final NFHCA Poll

Syracuse field hockey (8-8) is ranked 20th in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll of the season.
The Orange, ranked 17th last week before a loss to No. 3 Duke in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament, finished the season as a top 25 team for the 10th consecutive season.
'Cuse posted an 8-8 overall record and was1-5 in the ACC, the nation's toughest and most talented conference in field hockey. The Orange finished 7-3 at home on at J.S. Coyne Stadium. including a pair of top-25 wins over then-ranked No. 8 Boston College and No. 21 Albany.
The Orange were ranked throughout the season and have been in every NFHCA Coaches Poll dating back to the first poll of the 2008 season.
A young Syracuse team will bring back all but three graduating seniors next season, including sophomore Chiara Gutsche, who finished with 16 points, including eight goals, on the season, second on the Orange only behind senior Roos Weers. Weers, Caroline Cady and Jamie Martin end their careers as one of the most successful classes in program history with a 56-20 overall record, including a 30-7 mark at home. Weers, a two-time NFHCA All-American, and Martin were both members of the 2015 National Championship team.
