Ebangwese Named Third-Team Academic All-American

AUSTIN, Texas – Syracuse volleyball senior Santita Ebangwese has been voted to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America team, earning third-team honors. Ebangwese is the program's second Academic All-American, joining Keri Potts who earned first-team honors in 1998.
The bioengineering major set school records this season in career hitting percentage (.351) and single-season hitting percentage. Ebangwese's .425 hitting percentage this year currently leads the country.
A Rochester, N.Y. native, Ebangwese concludes her career as one of the top athletes in program history with 921 kills and 567 total blocks. Ebangwese holds Syracuse top-10 career marks in total blocks (567), block assists (484), solo blocks (83) and blocks per set (1.24).
Last week, Ebangwese was tabbed AVCA All-Region for the second time in her career. She also garnered All-ACC accolades this season as well as being named a Senior CLASS Award Top-10 Finalist. A two-time All-ACC Academic team member, Ebangwese also serves as the co-president for Syracuse University's Student-Athlete Advisor Committee (SAAC).
The 2018 Syracuse volleyball team compiled a 19-9, 14-4 ACC record on its way to earning the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance. The Orange opened the tournament with a first-round sweep, 3-0, over Yale before concluding its season in the second-round with a 3-0 loss to Penn State.
