BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Syracuse tennis team continues its road slate in sunny Florida as the Orange square-off with the Owls from Florida Atlantic University. Syracuse is seeking its 10th win of the season when they face the Owls at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13.Â
The Orange are coming off a tough battle against No. 1 North Carolina, a match that 'Cuse ultimately dropped, 6-1. Junior Gabriela Knutson tallied the only point for the Orange, defeating No. 8 Alle Sanford, 7-5, 7-5, to remain perfect (9-0) at No. 1 singles on the season.Â
A win over No. 30 Virginia Tech and hard-fought loss to North Carolina catapulted the Orange to No. 30 in the ITA/Oracle National Team Rankings in the most recent poll. After going 1-1 in doubles action, the duo of Knutson and Miranda Ramirez jumped to No. 17 in the Oracle/ITA Doubles Rankings, two spots above their previous ranking. The pair has placed in the top-20 in three consecutive rankings.
Additionally, Knutson moved into the 11-spot after defeating a top-10 opponent last Sunday. She remains the highest-ranked Syracuse tennis player in program history. Her two-win performance last weekend also earned her ACC Player of the Week honors.
Syracuse returns to Drumlins on Friday, March 16 to host ACC foe Clemson. First serve is set for 1 p.m. and admission to all matches at Drumlins Country Club is free.
