Over the next few weeks head coach Ange Bradley will be announcing the incoming freshman class. This week, Bradley announced Arabella "Bea" Bennett.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Next season, Arabella Bennett will join head coach Ange Bradley's Orange for the 2018 season. Bennett, a native of Bristol, United Kingdom, has been playing field hockey since the age of seven and brings a high level of international experience.
"I am excited to welcome this class to our Syracuse Field Hockey family," Bradley said. "They are a diverse group and offer us lots of speed and competitive desire to do something special in their time at 'Cuse."
Bennett helped Clifton College to a bronze finish at the 2015 and 2016 English National School Championships where she played forward. In 2016 and 2017 while at Millfield School she led her team to a gold finish at the English Independents School Cup.
"Bea brings international experience from one of the top hockey schools in England," Bradley said. "She is a smart defender with a solid set of core skills for a college freshman. Her experience playing on a water based turf and competing for championships with her team will put her in a strong position to compete for a starting position. I am happy to welcome Bea to our Syracuse family."
Standing at 5-feet-3 inches, Bennett is a versatile player that can play anywhere on the turf, most recently on defense. She's competed with England Hockey in the Sainsbury's School Games in 2017 against Scotland and Ireland and was named club MVP with the Clifton Robinsons Hockey Club four times from 2014-17.
"What impressed me about Syracuse was the immense opportunity I had to mix both my strengths in academics with a highly competitive and professional environment of a very successful field hockey team," Bennett said. "The ability to encompass everything I enjoy in one experience is why I chose Syracuse."
