Syracuse, N.Y. – Sarah "SJ" Quigley, a member of the U.S. U-19 Women's Indoor Team, will play field hockey at Syracuse University in 2018.
"SJ is a great athlete possessing size, speed and mobility," said head coach Ange Bradley. "She has very good technical skills and an aggressive defensive presence. She, like Peyton [Kemp], has won championships and this experience will add to our team. I am excited to see SJ challenge for a starting position this fall and I look forward to helping her continue to take her game to the next level. It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome SJ to the Syracuse family.
While at the Academy of Notre Dame in Villanova, Pa., Quigley was a four-year letter winner for the Irish. She helped Notre Dame to a 34-4-4 record in her final two seasons. As a senior captain, she scored 11 goals and recorded 17 assists to finish her high school career with 17 goals and 27 assists. During her junior campaign, she helped the Irish capture the 2016 Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA) Tournament Championship.
She played four years of club hockey with X-Calibur under head coach Brian Hope.
Quigley said she knew Syracuse was the best school for her following her first visit with the Orange. Her goals are to win an ACC and National Championships while at 'Cuse, and to work towards becoming an All-American for the Orange.
