SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Two-time Virginia State Champion Alexis 'Alex' Morales will play field hockey for the Orange in 2018. Morales led Tabb High School to back-to-back Class 3 State Titles in 2015 and 2016 playing in both midfield and defense for the Tigers.
"Alex is a very smart defensive center midfielder and she reads the intercept lines extremely well," said Syracuse Head Coach Ange Bradley. "She is a focused, self-disciplined and determined athlete. I look forward to seeing Alex bring her knowledge of the game to our group and welcome her to our Syracuse family."
After leading THS's JV team to an undefeated season (16-0) as a freshman, Morales made the jump to varsity in 2015. Over the course of the next three seasons, which included a move from defense to midfield in 2016 for Morales, the Tigers posted a 60-5 record and won a pair of state championships. She earned all-conference honors all three years and was a First Team All-Region 3A selection as a junior and senior. Additionally, Morales was named a Daily Press All-Star during her final two seasons at Tabb High School.

She currently plays club hockey for Focus Field Hockey under head coach Alan Good.
"I chose Syracuse because I wanted a challenge both academically and athletically," Morales said. "I knew after my first visit that I wouldn't want to be anywhere else and that I wanted to be a part of the amazing tradition at Syracuse."
Morales is highly active off the field as well. She is a member of the National Honor Society (secretary), Beta Club, National Science Honor Society (web master), National English Honor Society (president) and the Math Honor Society (Mu Alpha Theta).
She was honored as the 2017 Most Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winner for Field Hockey at Tabb High School.
When asked what she wants to accomplish while at 'Cuse she answered, "I want to help Syracuse win another NCAA Division I National Championship."
