SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse women's tennis team remained as the No. 24th-ranked squad in the country, Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced Wednesday, Jan. 23.
The Orange began the season ranked No. 24 and defended that honor with an undefeated season-opening weekend. Syracuse swept Brown, 7-0, Saturday, Jan. 19 before earning a 5-2 win over Columbia Sunday, Jan. 20.
Syracuse is one of seven Atlantic Coast Conference teams - yet again the most for any conference in the country - to appear in the second top-25 poll of the season. North Carolina (No. 3), Duke (No. 4), Georgia Tech (No. 13), Florida State (No. 15), Miami (No. 17) and Virginia (No. 21) are the ACC's other representatives. NC State, meanwhile, received votes.
