LAST TIME OUT
The Orange are coming off a home-and-home opening weekend series against No. 3 Clarkson that saw Syracuse take the Golden Knights down to the wire in a 4-3 loss at home on Friday before going down, 5-1, on Saturday. 'Cuse led Clarkson 3-2 heading into the final period of opening night, but two breaks in the third gave the Green and Gold the win.Â
Â
Saturday was all Clarkson start to finish as Syracuse gave up four goals between the opening two periods. Despite the outcome, 'Cuse was able to celebrate freshman Abby Leschyshyn as she recorded here first career goal in the loss, her goal coming in the third period off a power-play opportunity to avoid the shutout.
Â
"Obviously our confidence gets knocked down a bit by our performance on Saturday, but the players have been really good emotionally and have been able to rebound," head coach Paul Flanagan said. "We play BC once every year and we really look forward to playing them. Like Clarkson, they're always good so it gives us an opportunity to play someone we don't always hear a lot about."
Â
SERIES HISTORY
The Eagles and Orange have squared off eight times before. Boston College holds a 6-1-1 all-time series lead over Syracuse and have gone undefeated against the Orange in the last five meetings. Syracuse' lone victory came on Oct. 15, 2013 when the Orange took down the fourth-ranked Eagles 4-1 at Tennity.
Â
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Boston College finished the 2018-19 campaign with a 26-12-1 record. Their season culminated in a 2-1 loss to Clarkson in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles have won each of their first three games this season and are outscoring opponents 11-1 heading into the weekend.
Â
Freshman Hannah Bilka (4-2-6), paces the Eagles offense while Olivia Finocchiaro (2-3-5) and Kelly Browne (2-3-5) are tied for second ... Browne's five assists on the year pace the team.
Â
BC's top shot-stopper, sophomore goalkeeper Maddy McArthur, was named Hockey East's Player of the Week for her opening weekend efforts. McArthur recorded a .980 save percentage between her first two games which ranked first in the country among goaltenders who started two games. She also opened the year with a 25-save shutout,.
