The No. 10 Syracuse women's tennis team stormed back from a three-point deficit before losing to Boston College, 4-3, in its second Atlantic Coast Conference matchup of the season. The Orange are now 4-2 overall, including a 0-2 mark in ACC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
For the third straight dual, Syracuse got off on the wrong foot. The Orange were unable to win the doubles point, falling into an early 1-0 deficit as Boston College won two of the three doubles matches.
While the Orange's top doubles duo of senior Gabriela Knutson and junior Miranda Ramirez defeated the Eagles'Â Jackie Urbinati and Yufei Long, 7-5, Syracuse suffered losses on courts two and three.
Things got worse for Syracuse before they got better. Knutson, the No. 43-ranked singles player in the nation, lost to Long in straight sets on court one.
Up 2-0, Boston College earned another point when Ramirez lost in three sets on court three. Ramirez won her first set before losing her next two.
With their backs firmly against the wall, the Orange went to work. Sophomore Sofya Golubovskaya, ranked No. 92 in singles, took down Boston College's Kylie Wilcox in three sets (6-2, 4-6, 6-4) on court two and earned Syracuse its first point of the day.
Junior Guzal Yusupova continued the momentum with a three-set win (6-2, 4-6, 7-5) on court four, while freshman Sofya Treshcheva dominated on court six, winning in straight sets (6-3, 6-2).
With the dual tied at 3-3, all attention turned to the battle on court five. Senior Dina Hegab took the Eagles' Laura Lopez to the wire in the first set, losing 7-6. She ran out of steam in the second, however, losing 6-3 to seal Boston College's dual victory.

The Orange are next off to Seattle for the ITA National Team Indoor Championship. Play begins on Friday, Feb. 8 and concludes Monday, Feb. 11.
