
Syracuse Named 2018 Zag/NFHCA National Academic Team

Gilbert, Ariz. – The Syracuse field hockey team excels on both the field and in the classroom year after year and 2018 is no different. The Orange are one of 76 programs in Division I field hockey that earned Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Academic Team honors this year.
The Division I National Acadmic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade point averaged of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the current school year. Syracuse posted a 3.04 GPA with eight players earning a 3.5 GPA or higher.
This is the second-straight year Syracuse has been designated as a National Academic Team and 16th since the awards inception in 2003.
Syracuse went 8-8 this year and posted a 7-3 record at home just missing the NCAA Tournament. The Orange return 14 players from last season's squad and add one of the best recuriting classes during head coach Ange Bradley's tenure for 2019.
