#29 Orange Cruise Past FAU, 4-1

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The No. 29 Syracuse women's tennis team (9-5, 2-3 ACC) took care of business while enjoying the Sunshine State, as it defeated FAU, 4-1, Monday morning. The win gets the Orange back on track as the team returns to Drumlins Country Club following a four-match road swing.
The Orange now own a three-match win streak over FAU. The team defeated the Owls last season in a 6-1 victory, as well as a 7-0 sweep in 2006.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Syracuse took the doubles point after two 6-4 victories. The pair of senior Gabriela Knutson and junior Miranda Ramirez finished first, giving the Orange an early 1-0 advantage.
The duo of senior Dina Hegab and junior Guzal Yusupova were victorious shortly. Syracuse has won the doubles point in all but one victory this season.
Syracuse kept its hot hand moving into singles play. Sophomore Sofya Golubovskaya led the way for the Orange, defeating FAU's Natalia Boltinskaya in straight sets.
Senior Libi Mesh also dispatched her opponent in straight sets. Mesh won 6-3, 6-1 against Barbora Palcatova, setting up the clinching point for the Orange, who held a 3-0 lead after two singles matches.
FAU would get on the board with a victory on court one, however, to avoid the clean sweep. Martina Kudelova defeated No. 42 Knutson, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, to get the Owls their first point of the match.
Any hopes of a comeback for FAU were erased by victory from Yusupova on court four. She defeated the Owls' May Kimhi, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, to seal the match for the Orange.
WHAT LIES AHEAD
Syracuse is headed back home to host Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Virginia Tech. The match inside Drumlins Country Club is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Friday, March 15.
