
No. 12 Orange Ready for NCAA Tournament

Syracuse, N.Y. – The 12th-ranked Syracuse Orange women's basketball team is hosting the NCAA Tournament first and second rounds this weekend in the Carrier Dome. It's the second time in program history that 'Cuse earned a top-16 seed.
"Our goal in the beginning of the year is to be sitting where we are today and hosting the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament," said head coach Hillsman. "To play at home in the post season is a great opportunity. Playing on our home floor, we understand we have great teams in the first two rounds here and the NCAA Tournament is just about that. It's about playing the best team at the right time of the year and this is the right time of year. We are very excited for tomorrow."
All tickets are on sale now through the Carrier Dome Box Office. Call 1-888-DOME-TIX today to purchase your tickets. Prices start at $25 for adults and $20 for students, seniors and youths under 12 years old for single sessions in Round 1. Round 2 single session tickets begin at $15. All-session passes are available, which include admission for all three games in the Carrier Dome this weekend and begin at $35 per person. The three-seed Orange take on 14-seed Fordham at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 after 11-seed Quinnipiac and six-seed South Dakota State square off at 11 a.m. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN2 with Sam Gore and Blair Schaefer on the call.
Last year, Syracuse lost its first games of the Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA Tournament. The Orange finished 22-9 overall and had a successful season but the memory of those losses are still there one year later.
"For me, it's last year," said junior point guard Tiana Mangakahia. "Losing first round in the ACC Tournament, losing first round in the NCAA Touranment that motivates me this year to not let that happen again."
The Orange enter Saturday's matchup with the Rams with a 24-8 overall record. Syracuse has won four of its last five games, including a pair of wins over ranked opponents in No. 21 Florida State and No. 16 Miami.
Fordham rides a 12-game win streak into its third NCAA Tournament in program history. The Rams upset top-seed VCU in the Atlantic 10 Tournament to earn the league's automatic bid.
The winner will go on to face the winner of Quinnipiac/South Dakota State on Monday for a trip to the Sweet Sixteen on the line.
Thw last time the Orange hosted the NCAA first and second rounds, they were the No. 4 seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. That year, Syracuse went on to reach the Final Four for the first time in program history and lost to Connecticut in the championship game.
