
'Cuse Sees Action at Bucknell and Miami

A trio of top-five finishes by Stephen Schulz, Aiden Tooker and Richard Floyd highlighted a successful day for the Syracuse track and field teams. Divided between the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational and the Bison Invitational, the Orange compiled 14 top-25 finishes, including seven in the top-10.

Floyd narrowly missed a career-high with a time of 13.98 in the 110-meter hurdles, taking third place. Tooker led the five Orange runners at Bucknell in the 1500m with a team-best 3:45.65. Michael Phillips finished in 3:47.52 for 12th place followed by a 15th place finish from Nathan Henderson, who finished with a time of 3:48.50. Noah Beveridge took 16th while Matthew Scrape rounded out the 'Cuse runners in 26th.

In the first outdoor meet of his collegiate career, Schulz's time of 14:56.90 placed him fourth in the unseeded 5000m at the Bison Invitational. Simon Smith took on the steeplechase for the first time in his career, finishing in eighth with a time of 9:10.02. John Flannery rounded out the distance runners at Bucknell with a 19th place finish in the unseeded 1500m, running it in 3:57.69.

Abigail Spiers led the female distance campaign, finishing 17th in the 1500m with a time of 4:28.81. The sprint group was led my Aviana Goode who took sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 13.97. Alexis Crosby rounded out the top-10 grouping with a seventh place finish in the 400m dash. Crosby had a time of 55.03.
Kira Wimbert took 12th in the women's 400-meters, headlining the second day of the Bison Outdoor Invitational. She claimed her heat with a time of 58.28, running away with the race. Teammate Lily Worden (1:02.59/45th), Mariana McManus (1:03.60/52nd) and Hannah Loader (1:04.04/54th) also competed in a deep field.
Wimbert also led the way in the 200-meters, taking 30th in a time of 26.95.
'Cuse returns to action next weekend at the Virginia Challenge.
