
BU Wins Conlan Cup, Third Varsity Eight Remains Unbeaten

Leonia, N.J. – The No. 8 Boston Terriers claimed the Conlan Cup for the second-straight year beating the ninth-ranked Syracuse Orange by one and a half seconds. 'Cuse's third varsity eight crew remained unbeaten this spring with a three-second win over BU on Saturday morning in Overpeck Park.
The 2V8+ also finished second behind BU with a time of 6:04.11 while the 4V8+ was four seconds behind the Terriers in a two-team race.
No. 15 Columbia finished three seconds behind the Orange in the V8+. 'Cuse had a nearly a 15-second lead over Columbia in the 2V8+ and led the Lions by 33 seconds.
Saturday was the first of two races against top-10 opponents this weekend. The Orange host No. 10 Dartmouth for the Packard Cup Sunday, April 28, at Ten Eyck Boathouse located at Long Branch Park in Liverpool, N.Y. The races, beginning at 8:05 a.m., will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra available online or via the WatchESPN App.
About the Conlan Cup
Syracuse and Boston University have been racing for the Conlan Cup every year since 1987 when the trophy was created. The race is named after Bill Conlan who was the founder of the Boston University rowing program. The Orange has won the cup 16 times in 30 years. The Conlan Cup was not contested in 1996.
