
2019 Orange Honored for Academic Excellence

For the second year in a row and the 10th time in program history, the 2019 Syracuse University volleyball team earned the United State Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The honor recognizes teams that achieve excellence in the classroom in addition to their dedication on the court and maintain a minimum of a 3.3 cumulative grade point average throughout the academic year.

Eleven members of the 2019-20 Orange team earned Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Academic Honor Roll recognition. Aliah Bowllan, Dana Gardner, Kendra Lukacs and Yuliia Yastrub were three-time honorees, while Elena Karakasi, Polina Shemanova and Ella Saada achieved the honor for the second time. Shemanova is also two-time All-ACC First Team performer on the court and a two-time ACC Academic Volleyball Team selection.

In addition to the 2020 award, Syracuse has earned recognition in 1997 (1996-97 academic year), 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2019.
