SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse battled North Carolina State in a four-set match in the first of two matches against teams from North Carolina. The Orange lost to the Wolfpack, 3-1, in a match that featured 23 tie scores and 11 lead changes. Syracuse will host North Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 17th at 1 pm in the Women's Building. Admission to all Syracuse home volleyball matches is free. All fans attending games must adhere to Syracuse University's COVID-19 policy, which can be found here.
The Orange (14-5 overall, 3-4 ACC) won the first set, 25-23, before NC State (10-8, 4-3) took the next three sets for the victory.
"In the first set we took advantage of their errors, but they cleaned up play after that," said head coach Leonid Yelin. "We recorded more errors and that hurt us. The numbers speak for themselves."
Junior Marina Markova recorded 13 kills and 12 digs, while senior Polina Shemanova added 15 kills and 10 digs. Senior Elena Karakasi tallied 40 assists.
