PITTSBURGH, PA – The Orange lost at #3 Pittsburgh, 3-0, on Friday at Fitzgerald Field House. Junior Marina Markova led the Orange with 17 kills, 10 digs and three blocks. Sophomore Lauren Hogan recorded 29 digs.
"Pitt is a very strong team," said head coach Leonid Yelin. "They are ranked number three for a reason. We started out very strong, but it is so hard to keep that momentum when you are working that much harder than the other team. We still have to prove we are at that level. I know we can be. The first set showed that tonight."
The Orange (16-9 overall, 4-9 ACC) battled back-and-forth with Pitt in the first set until the Panthers used a 3-0 run to take a 15-12 lead. Syracuse responded with a 10-6 rally to make the score 22-21 before Pitt won the set, 25-23. Pittsburgh won the second and third sets, 25-15 and 25-13, respectively.
Up Next:
Syracuse will play at Virginia on Sunday, November 7th at 12 PM. The match will be televised on ACC RSN.
