
Four Orange Named NFHCA All-Americans

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced the Division I All-America Teams on Tuesday and four Orange earned the prestigious honor. Pleun Lammers and Quirine Comans were named to the Second Team while Charlotte de Vries and Eefke van den Nieuwenhof were Third Team selections. 
Lammers, a two-time NFHCA All-Region First Team selection, appeared and started in 11 games for Syracuse. She led the team in goals (8) and points (20) through the first 11 games and added four assists and three game-winning goals. She had a hat trick in the season opener, a 7-0 win over Sacred Heart, and added an assist for a career-high seven points in a game. Lammers was named All-ACC First Team and earned ACC Player of the Week honors the first week of the season.Â
Comans, played in all 20 games for Syracuse earning 18 starts. She was named All-ACC First Team and NFHCA All-Mideast Region First Team after leading Syracuse in points with 27. Her nine points and nine assists with a pair of two-game winning goals paved the way for the first-year graduate student to earn All-America honors.Â
De Vries earns All-America honors for the third time in her career. The junior forward earned All-ACC Second Team and NFHCA All-Mideast Region First Team honors after scoring six goals and adding three assists for Syracuse this season. She appeared and started in 18 games for the Orange after missing the first two games of the season while playing in the Junior PanAm Championships with the U.S. U-22 National Team where she was named Top Scorer of the tournament.Â
Syracuse's center back, Van den Nieuwenhof., played and started in all 20 games for the Orange. She led the team in scoring with 11 goals and added two assists for 24 points which was second on the team. She was an All-ACC First Team, All-NFHCA Mideast Region First Team and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) All-Tournament Team selection in 2021.Â
This is the first season in school history the Orange have four NFHCA All-Americans and first time since 2016 that at least three Syracuse players earned the honor.Â
