Four Orange Earn All-ACC Field Hockey Honors

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) announced the All-ACC Field Hockey Team Thursday afternoon. Syracuse landed four players on the list with Charlotte de Vries and Eefke van den Nieuwenhof earning first team recognition while Laura Graziosi and Pleun Lammers were selected to the second team.Â
A sophomore from Wayne, Pa., de Vries led the Orange with 13 points scoring five goals and three assists in 16 games played during the 2020-21 season. She scored in five different games this season and scored the game-winning goal against Louisville on Oct. 30 and Saint Joseph's on March 7.  This marks the second-straight year de Vries has earned All-ACC First Team honors. She was recognized after her freshman season in 2019 when she led the Orange in goals (15) and points (31) in 18 starts.Â
Van den Nieuwenhof has had an impressive rookie season for the Orange starting all but one game this season. She tallied eight points (3 goals, 2 assists) for the Orange and made two defensive saves. As Syracuse's center back, van den Nieuwenhof helped the Orange defense to a 1.77 goals against average through 16 games.Â
Graziosi, earns All-ACC Second Team honors for the first time in her career. The junior midfielder has appeared in all 16 games for the Orange tallying four goals, including two game-winning goals, this season. Lammers, who missed her true freshman season due to injury, made an immediate impact for Syracuse as a redshirt sophomore this season. She appeared in 15 games earning 10 starts where she scored five goals and added two assists for 12 points. Lammers had two multi-goal games during the spring portion of the season against Towson on March 14 and North Carolina on April 18.Â
Syracuse is one of four teams in the ACC with four All-ACC selections and two on the first team. UNC's Erin Matson was named ACC Offensive Player of the Year and the Tar Heels coach Karen Shelton was named Coach of the Year. Duke's Darcy Bourne was named Freshman of the Year and Boston College's goalkeeper Jonna Kennedy earned Defensive Player of the Year honors.Â
