Field Hockey Heads Into Week 2 of Preseason

With the first week of practice in the rearview mirror, the Syracuse Field Hockey team looks ahead with three scrimmages slated for this week. The Orange face competition other than themselves for the first time this fall season on Monday, August 16Â when Bucknell visits J.S. Coyne Stadium at 4 p.m.
On Thursday, the Orange host their second scrimmage of the week. Rutgers and 'Cuse will face off at 2 p.m. at Coyne Stadium and Penn State visits at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 21. Syracuse then has one final week of preparation before the 2021 season gets underway on Friday, August 27 against Sacred Heart at 1 p.m.Â
The 2021 Orange squad is comprised of nine newcomers, including eight freshman, while fifth year's Carolin Hoffmann and Claire Cooke are back for another season. Syracuse returns three players, Charlotte de Vries, Laura Graziosi and SJ Quigley, who started in all 16 games for 'Cuse during the 2020-21 season. De Vries will miss the upcoming preseason games while playing in the 2021 Junior Pan American Championships with the U.S. U22 National Team. The Junior PanAm Championship is a qualifier for the 2021 FIH Hockey Junior World Cup and will take place at Prince of Wales Country Club in Santiago, Chile from August 21-28.Â
 Admission to all preseason and regular season games at J.S. Coyne Stadium is free. All fans attending games must adhere to Syracuse University's COVID-19 policy, which can be found here.
