De Vries Tabbed as Preseason All-ACC

Syracuse's Charlotte de Vries is one of 11 student-athletes on the 2021 Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Field Hockey Team. De Vries, a junior forward for the Orange, was a All-ACC First Team selection in each of her first two seasons at 'Cuse.Â
De Vries, a member of the U.S. Women's National Team, has scored 20 goals in her career with the Orange. She led the team with 15 goals and one assist for 31 points en route to earning NFHCA All-America Second Team honors as a freshman. In a unique sophomore season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, de Vries led the Orange with five goals and three assists for a team-best 13 points. She earned NFHCA First Team All-America recognition and was named to the ACC All-Tournament Team for her exceptional postseason play in the fall.Â
Boston College led all schools with three players selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team while three-time defending national champion North Carolina received six first-place votes and 48 points as this year's favorite to win the ACC title. Boston College is picked to finish second in the league with 30 points, while Virginia (25) and Wake Forest (24) are separated by one point in the voting. Syracuse, Duke and Louisville all received 23 points in the voting for a three-way tie.Â
The 2021 NFHCA Division I preseason national rankings are scheduled to be announced on Tuesday.

The Orange begin their season Friday, August 27 at home when they host Sacred Heart at 1 p.m. at J.S. Coyne Stadium. Fans can watch the action live on ACCNX through the ESPN app.Â
