SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The 2021 Orange volleyball program has new faces on the sideline with the addition of assistant coach Andrea Beaty, volunteer assistant coach Steven Zarzycki and director of operations Reghan Pukis to head coach Leonid Yelin's staff.
Beaty joins the Orange after serving as an assistant coach at UTEP for two years, where she mentored three all-conference performers and was responsible for mentoring the setters and developing the service game plan. She developed the Point Miners Club to assist in fundraising and served on the TWC committee, UTEP's diversity and inclusion initiative.
Beaty coached at Saint Francis Borgia High School from 2015 through 2018, leading the program to 100 victories, four district championships, four conference championships and two final four appearances. While at the high school level she mentored six players who went on to play at the collegiate level.
The Pacific, Missouri native played collegiately at Saint Louis (2010 to 2011) and at Missouri State (2012-2014). At Saint Louis, she earned the 2010 Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year Award and was a first-team all-league selection as a sophomore after leading the team with 357 kills. She was an A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll student.
She concluded her career at Missouri State, where she totaled more than 500 kills and 200 blocks in 2012 and 2014. She missed all but two matches the 2013 season due to an injury. Beaty earned 2012 All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team honors. The 2012 MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team honoree earned her bachelor's degree in psychology.
A 2021 graduate of Kean University, Zarzycki played on the Cougars 2021 nationally ranked Kean squad as a starter outside hitter. During the summer of 2018, he played for the USA Men's DIII Volleyball team in Brazil.
The Rochester native coached the Crush Girls Volleyball Club where he trained and developed players. Zarzycki graduated in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in human resource management. He was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Lambda Alpha Sigma Honor Society, and Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society. He is also currently working toward a PHR certification.
Pukis played for the University of Portland as an outside hitter for four seasons and led the Pilots in kills as a senior. She earned tournament MVP honors twice in 2018. Pukis, who earned a bachelor's degree in communication studies, was a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Chair Member for three years at Portland and was a four-time member of the West Coast Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. After graduating in 2019, Pukis played professional volleyball for the CEP St. Benoit Volleyball Club in Poitiers, France, for one year and then served as the Bellarmine Prep School head junior varsity volleyball coach for two years.
