
Orange Field Hockey Back in NFHCA Top 10

GENEVA, N.Y. – For the first time since mid-September, the Syracuse University field hockey team is back in the top 10 of the Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll.
After collecting two top-20 wins, including a 3-2 win over No. 4 Louisville, Syracuse vaulted three spots with 716 points, good enough to rank ninth this week. The Orange ranked in the top 10 in the first three polls of the year, with a highwater mark at seventh in the week one poll.
North Carolina remained atop the poll this week with 1.099 points and 43 of the 44 first-place votes. Maryland was second with 1,007 points and the outstanding first-place nod. Penn State was third with 971 points, followed by No. 4 Northwestern (939 points) and Virginia rounding out the top five (876 points).
Ten of the Orange's 18 opponents this season were listed among the top 25 teams: No. 1 North Carolina (L, 1-6), No. 5 Virginia (L, 0-3), No. 7 Princeton (L, 1-5), No. 8 Louisville (W, 3-2), No. 12 Wake Forest (Oct. 28), No. 19 James Madison (W, 2-1 OT), No. 21 Rutgers (W, 4-3), No. 22 Boston College (W, 3-0), No. 24 Cornell (W, 5-0), No. 25 Duke (W, 5-1).
No. 9 Syracuse rounds out the regular season with a trek to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for an ACC tilt at No. 12 Wake Forest. Game time is set for 5 p.m. at Kentner Stadium. Friday's showdown will be carried on ACC Network Extra.
