Field Hockey Seeded Fifth, Draws BC in Quarters

GREENSBORO, N.C. – With the 2022 regular season wrapped up for ACC field hockey, Syracuse University will be the number five seeded entering the ACC Field Hockey Tournament.
The ninth-ranked Orange will take on fourth-seeded Boston College to open the ACC Tournament, hosted at Duke University's Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium, with first push at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
The winner of Tuesday's Orange-Eagles match will face top-seeded North Carolina at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Other quarterfinal games including No. 2 Wake Forest vs. No. 7 Duke (3:30 p.m.) and No. 3 Virginia vs. No. 6 Louisville (6 p.m.). Winners of the second and third quarterfinal games will face off on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
The ACC champion will be crowned on Friday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. between the winners of the two semifinal games.
Syracuse finished the regular season with a 14-4 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the ACC, taking on one of the toughest schedules in the league this season. The Orange went 9-0 at home in the regular season with 2-0 record in neutral-site games.
In late September, the Orange knocked off Boston College, then ranked 16th by the NFHCA, with a 3-0 outcome at J.S. Coyne Stadium. Charlotte de Vries notched a goal and an assist while Joy Haarman and Willemijn Boogert added tallies. Quirine Comans and Eefke van den Nieuwenhof scored assists as Brooke Borzymowski made one save on the lone BC shot on goal.
