Field Hockey Jumps Two Spots in Final Poll

GENEVA, N.Y. – After reaching the ACC Semifinals for a third-straight season, the Syracuse University field hockey team moved up two spots in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll.
The Orange (15-5) elevated to the number eight spot, up two places from last week. Syracuse garnered 435 points this week and will face No. 7 Princeton on Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
North Carolina held at number one with 675 points and all 27 first-place votes. This weekend's host, Maryland, was slotted second with 609 points. Northwestern was third with 587 points, followed by Michigan (584) and Virginia (530) in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Nine Syracuse opponents ranked in the final NFHCA Coaches Poll of the 2022 season: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 5 Virginia, No. 7 Princeton, No. 10 Wake Forest, No. 12 Louisville, No. 18 Rutgers, No. 20 Boston College, No. 22 James Madison, No. 24 Cornell.
