
Orange Split Opening Day at Tarleton Invitational

The Orange got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Syracuse got an RBI single from junior Rebecca Clyde, scoring Campbell from first base.
The Orange then held the Islanders scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Freshman Tessa Galipeau nailed a double down the right field line to score Neli Casares-Maher and then scored herself off a sacrifice fly out off the bat of Taylor Posner. The score was 3-0 after the third inning. Freshman pitcher Summer Clark managed to hold the Islanders to just one run scored in the sixth to make the final score 3-1.
In the game against Tarleton the Orange held a 1-0 lead going into the seventh inning, but could not hold on and fell 2-1 to the Texans.
The Orange put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the fourth inning. Campbell came across to score the lone run of the inning for Syracuse and get them on the board.
OF NOTE
- Syracuse pitchers Clark and Lindsey Hendrix had nine strikeouts apiece.
- The Orange out-hit the Islanders at a 9-5 clip.
- Syracuse went 3-for-6 (.500) with runners in scoring position in its first game.
- Campbell led the Orange offensively in the second game going 2-for-3 at the plate.
- Syracuse pitchers limited Tarleton State to just 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
