
Orange Never Trailed in 11-3 Win

STEPHENVILLE, TX.- The Orange conclude their weekend at the Tarleton Invitational with an 11-3 win against Alabama State. Syracuse improves to an 8-2 record after taking three games this weekend.

Syracuse started the game with fireworks in the first inning. A compilation of two home runs and a sacrifice bunt gave the Orange an early 5-0 advantage. Tessa Galipeau and Neli Casares-Maher were responsible for the homers. After scoring one more run in the second, another five run performance came in the bottom of the third inning. Taylor Posner started the rally with a triple to right field to score Yamila Evans and Angel Jasso. Laila Alves came up to the plate next to nail a double to left center field to bring Posner home. The spark concluded with a a two-run home run to right field laced by Olivia Pess to give the Orange a safe 11-0 lead going into the fourth.

The Hornets managed to string together three runs in the top of the fifth but it wasn't enough to catch the Orange and their eight point lead.

Across four innings of work, Lindsey Hendrix only faced 14 batters, striking out seven of them. She allowed just two hits and gave up no walks throughout her outing.

OF NOTE FROM THE WEEKEND
- The Orange scored 29 runs and produced 40 hits throughout five games.
- Galipeau led the Syracuse offense with five hits, eight runs batted in, and three runs scored in five games. She ended the weekend with a .480 average.
- Angel Jasso possesses the highest Orange batting average after 10 games at .484.
- Neli Casares-Maher added another home run to her total of four in 10 games.
- Hendrix had 16 strikeouts in her 10.1 innings of work.
- Summer Clark recorded 12 strikeouts across 13 innings pitched this weekend.
- The Orange continue to have their best start to a season in their first 10 games since their 8-2 start in 2011.
The Orange travel to Auburn, Alabama for the Plainsman Invite from Feb 25-27 for another set of five games. They will take on Auburn twice, Bradley, Delaware State and ULM in the tournament.Â
