
Syracuse Named NFHCA National Academic Team Award Recipient

Syracuse is one of 79 NCAA Division I programs to earn the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Team Award, announced Monday by the NFHCA. It marks the sixth time in the last seven years, and 16th time overall, the Orange have earned the prestigious recognition.Â
The NFHCA National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that have earned a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester or current academic year. The Orange posted a 3.334 fall GPA and had 13 student-athletes earn NFHCA Academic Squad recognition earlier this month. Three of those 13 student-athletes, Brooke Borzymowski, Willemijn Boogert, and Clara Morrison, were tabbed as NFHCA Scholars of Distinction with a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher through the fall semester.
Not only did Syracuse excel in the classroom this past fall, the Orange posted a 14-6 overall record, earned a No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament with a 4-2 record and reached the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time since 2016. 'Cuse earned six wins over nationally-ranked opponents including three top-5 wins (#3 Boston College, #5 North Carolina, #4 Penn State). Syracuse peaked at No. 6 in the NFHCA Coaches Poll and finished the season ranked No. 10 while the coaching staff was named NFHCAÂ Mideast Region Coaching Staff of the Year. The Orange return majority of their squad from the 2021 season including four NFHCA All-Americans.
