Casares-Maher and Galipeau Lead Syracuse to Win; 'Cuse Plays Coppin State on Wednesday

SALISBURY, MD.- Senior Neli Casares-Maher and freshman Tessa Galipeau each recorded three hits to help lead Syracuse to a 5-1 win against Maryland Eastern Shore. Junior Kaia Oliver got the win for Syracuse (11-9 overall, 1-5 ACC). Oliver went four innings, giving up one run on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out three Hawks (2-16). Freshman Summer Clark came in for her, going three shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out six.Â
The Orange will play a double header at Coppin State on Wednesday, March 16.
In addition to her three hits, Galipeau had an RBI and Casares-Maher's three base hits. Freshman Taylor Posner put together one hit in two trips to the plate and had a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Orange were trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning when they put runs on the board. Galipeau's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Syracuse.The Orange pushed another run across when Posner scored which gave the Orange a 3-1 lead. Syracuse held Maryland-Eastern Shore without a run before building their lead to 5-1 the following inning. The Orange scored twice, with one run coming across on Posner's single.Â

- Syracuse got three-hit games from both Galipeau and Casares-Maher.
- Clark struck out six Hawks on the mound.
- The Orange out-hit the Hawks 10-4.
- The Orange drew five walks from Maryland-Eastern Shore pitching.
- Galipeau led the Orange at the plate, going 3-for-5 with an RBI.
