Orange Out-Hit Wolfpack in Loss

RALEIGH, N.C. - Syracuse recorded eight hits in a 5-4 loss at North Carolina State. Five different players recorded hits, including Carli Campbell, Tessa Galipeau and Paris Woods, who each had two. Senior Ariana Adams (1-4) came out of the bullpen for Syracuse (10-6 overall, 1-2 ACC) and took the loss. The right-hander went 3.1 innings, giving up one run on two hits against NC State (18-3, 2-1).
Galipeau led the Orange offense, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Campbell also hit 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Woods finished 2-for-3 at the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Orange got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Campbell came across to score the lone run of the inning for Syracuse resulting from a sacrifice fly from Angel Jasso.
Syracuse scored one run in the top of the first, when Angel Jasso hit a sacrifice fly to score Campbell. The Wolfpack tied the game in the bottom of the first and then scored three in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead. The Orange tied the game with a three-run fifth. Campbell's RBI single scored Ramos for the first run and then Galipeau's single down the right field line scored Woods and Ryan Gallegos to make the score 4-4. NC State's Logan Morris hit a homerun in the bottom of the fifth for the Wolfpack win.
OF NOTE
- In the fifth inning, Syracuse strung together five consecutive hits.
- The Orange out-hit the Wolf Pack at an 8-5.
- Galipeau led the Orange at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
- The Syracuse defense allowed no errors in all three games this weekend.
