Over the next few weeks, the incoming 2022 field hockey class will be announced. We start the series with this week's Welcome Wednesday on Lindsay Schiavone.
Lindsay Schiavone, a Louisville, Ky., native will attend Syracuse University and play field hockey for the Orange in the fall of 2022. Schiavone is a two-time All-State First Team selection midfielder who helped lead Sacred Heart Academy to back-to-back state titles in 2020 and 2021.
"Lindsay is a very good athlete with tenacious defense," Syracuse Head Coach Ange Bradley said. "She possesses a strong work ethic and has competed for a very competitive club (IFHCK Club). I look forward to watching Lindsay compete for a starting position this fall."
Schiavone was selected to the 2020 Junior All-Star Team and was a 2021 Senior All-Star selection. She is ranked Top-100 by Max Field Hockey for the Class of 2022 and was named the 2020 Midway University/KHSAA Field Hockey Student-Athlete of the Year.
The 5-foot-4 midfielder is a member of the French National Honors Society, President of the French Club, and a member of the Future Investors' Club at Sacred Heart.
"I chose Syracuse because I loved the team culture and environment when I attended clinics and saw the team play," Schiavone said. "I also felt a good connection with the coaches and Syracuse is a very strong academic university, which is something I wanted."
Schiavone was named to the 2021 Max Field Hockey National Invitational All-Tournament First Team and was the 2021 Apple Tournament Wendy Martin MVP recipient.
She intends to major in political science in Syracuse's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
