THE GAME
- Syracuse is seeking its third-straight win when the Orange travel to Notre Dame on Saturday.
- The game will be broadcast on ESPNU with Chris Cotter (PxP) and Paul Carcaterra '97 (analyst) on the call. Brian Higgins '04 (PxP) and Kyle Fetterly '09 (analyst) will broadcast the action on TK99/105, Cuse.com, The Varsity App and the TuneIn App, while WAER will also carry the game.
THE NOTRE DAME SERIES
- Syracuse looks for their first win at Arlotta Stadium since 2017 on Saturday.
- While the Orange own a 10-7 advantage in the all-time series, only two of those victories have come at Arlotta.
- The matchup dates back to 2001, but 14 of the 17 meetings have come since 2010 when the teams have shared a conference (BIG EAST 2010-2013/ACC 2014-Pres.).
- Last time out, Syracuse lost 22-8 at Arlotta in 2021.
MENTAL MATTERS GAME
- Syracuse and Notre Dame have partnered to make Saturday's game about an important cause, dedicating the game to raising funds and awareness for a pair of mental health organizations close to each program.
- In conjunction with the 15 For Life Foundation and the Tommy O'Brien Fund, Syracuse and Notre Dame will be wearing shooting search with the two organizations logos on them. An online store has been created for fans to purchase the shirts, with all proceeds going to the organizations. For more information, visit Cuse.com.
- The 15 For Life Foundation was created in memory of former 'Cuse star attackman Rob Kavovit. Kavovit passed away on March 16, 2021 after taking his own life while suffering from silent depression. The Kavovit Family funneled their grief into opening the dialogue around depression and mental matters. Their mission is to shed the shame around needing help and normalizing the conversation around mental health by creating awareness so that our loss may help others.
-Kavovit remains one of the leading scorers in program history. His 246 points puts him ninth in SU history and he was an All-American in each of his final three seasons with the Orange (1995, 1996, 1997).
THE DORDEVIC SHOW
- Tucker Dordevic is on pace for a historic goal-scoring season at Syracuse, as the redshirt junior has already scored 5+ goals in five of the team's eight games to date, and sits at 31 goals at the midway point of the year.
-Â Dordevic is on pace to finish the 14 game regular season with 54 goals, which would be the fourth-most goals in a season in program history and most since Gary Gait scored 70 in 1988.
- If Dordevic even gets to 40+, he'd be in rare company. Dylan Donahue (50/2015) is the last player to go north of 40 for a season. Before him, Stephen Keogh (49/2009), Mike Leveille (49/2008), Mike Powell (47/2004; 40/2002), Mike Springer (40/2001; 48/2000), Matt Cutia (44/1999), Casey Powell (44/1998; 43/1997), Rob Kavovit (42/1996), Roy Colsey (44/1994), Matt Riter (49/1993) are the only 10 players to do it since Marechek (who did so in 1992 and 1993 in addition to '91).
- Dordevic enters Saturday's game ranked third nationally with 3.88 goals per game, has been named ACC Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks, has scored 7+ points in back-to-back games and his highlight-reel goal vs. Duke has been viewed more than a million times across social media and was SportsCenter's number one play.
A WIN AGAINST NOTRE DAME WOULD...
- Improve Syracuse to 5-4 on the season, putting them above .500 for the first time since the team started 1-0 in February.
- Be the program's 929th victory, second all-time behind Johns Hopkins.
- Give Syracuse a 2-1 record in ACC play, which at worst would put 'Cuse into a tie for second at the midway point of league play. To date, Syracuse and UVA are the only conference teams with a win under their belt.
STRONG IN LEAGUE
- Since joining the ACC, Syracuse has the second-best record in regular season league games (19-14) and also has two ACC Tournament titles. Duke holds a 19-13 record in that time to lead all teams. Notre Dame (16-16), North Carolina (16-16) and Virginia (11-23) make up the remaining records.
A GAUNTLET OF A SCHEDULE
- Notre Dame checks in at No. 16 in this week's USILA poll, marking the eighth-straight game that Syracuse has played vs. a team ranked or receiving votes. The Orange have already played No. 1 Maryland, No. 2 Virginia, No. 10 Duke, No. 13 Army and No. 18 Johns Hopkins (ranking at the time of the game) in each of the past six weeks, and also Hobart and Stony Brook, who were receiving votes at the time in that span.
- In the near 50 year history of the USILA Poll, the three game stretch with games against No. 1 Maryland, No. 2 Virginia and No. 13 Army was just the eighth stretch where 'Cuse plays three-or-more games in a row facing off against an opponent ranked higher in the poll than them.
- Every opponent except one (UAlbany) left on the Orange's 2022 schedule is ranked in this week's poll.
