Kozyreva, Ito Named to All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse junior Polina Kozyreva and freshman Shiori Ito were named to the All-ACC Women's Tennis Academic Team on Thursday, June 16. Both earn the honor for the first time in their careers.

Kozyreva posted a career-high 22 wins during the spring season. She won nine consecutive singles matches in straight sets to open the spring campaign. Kozyreva paired with freshman Miyuka Kimoto to earn an invitation to the NCAA Doubles Championship. The duo ended the year ranked No. 18 in the ITA rankings.

Ito ended a successful freshman campaign with 31 victories. She advanced to the Northeast Super Regionals in both singles and doubles. Ito and doubles partner Sofya Treshcheva were ranked as high as No. 45 in the ITA rankings.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
