How it Happened
- The Orange got things going less than two minutes into the game as Haarman pushed home her first of the day, capitalizing on a feed from de Vries.
- In the final moments of the first quarter, Lammers zipped through the Vermont defense and took a shot from just inside the arc, which was then tipped home by Lana Hamilton in front of the goal post. That would send the teams into halftime with the Orange on top 2-0.
- Opening the fresh half, Haarman continued the quick scoring, putting away her second just 50 seconds into the third quarter. Ninety seconds later, she hit the first Orange hat trick since Lammers on Aug. 27, 2021.
- Forty seconds later, de Vries connected on a penalty corner with Quirine Comans and inserter SJ Quigley, putting the goal away in the 33rd minute.
- The final goal of the game came in the 43rd minute as Sam Swart drove the goal and just before the ball could fall out of bounds, snapped a pass back to a waiting Heijnekamp, who had a wide-open tap in for a 6-0 final score.
Behind the Numbers
- Syracuse improved to 2-0 for the 10th-straight regularly scheduled season and for the 14th time under 16th year head coach. The lone seasons without a 2-0 mark were 2011 and the fall 2020 season with an all-ACC schedule.
- The Orange improved to an 11-3 all-time record against Vermont, winning for a fourth-straight matchup.
