
Field Hockey Remains Top 10 in NFHCA Coaches Poll

Gearing up for back-to-back games at J.S. Coyne Stadium this weekend, the Syracuse University field hockey team remained in the top 10 of this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll.
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its third poll of the season Tuesday afternoon.
'Cuse ranked 10th this week, the third-straight poll the Orange have been in the top 10 of the NFHCA Coaches Poll. Syracuse garnered 673 points this one, one adrift of Virginia. Defending national champion Northwestern was pegged first with 1,086 points and 35 first-place votes while North Carolina was second with 1,053 points and the remaining nine first-place selections. Maryland was ranked third with 967 points.
Nine of the Orange's 2022 opponents are inside the top 25 of the NFHCA Coaches Poll this week: No. 2 North Carolina (1053 (9), Oct. 14), No. 4 Louisville (910, Oct. 21), No. 8 Princeton (725, L, 5-1), No. 9 Virginia (674, Sept. 23), No. 17 Wake Forest (392, Oct. 28), No. 18 Duke (334, Sept. 16), No. 19 Rutgers (331, Oct. 23), No. 21 Boston College (193, Sept. 30), No. 25 James Madison (99, Oct. 2).
Last weekend, the Orange split their pair of matches, falling on the road at No. 17 Princeton on Friday before rebounding on Sunday at No. 25 Monmouth with a 3-0 win thanks to a Charlotte de Vries hat trick in the first half.
Syracuse returns to J.S. Coyne Stadium on Friday against No. 18 Duke. Game time is set for 5 p.m. with the game carried on ACC Network Extra. The Orange are back home on Sunday for a 1 p.m. showdown with Hofstra, also on ACC Network Extra.
