
Field Hockey Remains in NFHCA Poll Top 15

GENEVA, N.Y. – After a split week, the Syracuse University field hockey team remained inside the top 15 of the Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its poll Tuesday morning.
The Orange (8-2) ranked 13th this week, collecting 540 points along the way. North Carolina took over the top spot with 1,019 points and 35 of the 37 first-place selections. Northwestern was second with 930 points and five first-place votes. Iowa slotted third with 915 points, followed by Maryland in fourth with 908 points and the remaining first-place selection. Louisville rounded out the top five spots this week with 824 points.
Syracuse went 1-1 last week, falling at then-No. 10 Virginia on Friday before bouncing back on Sunday for a 6-0 win over Dartmouth at home.
Boasting one of the most challenging schedules in Division I, Syracuse has nine opponents ranked in the top 25 this week, including four in the top 10: No. 1 North Carolina (Oct. 14), No. 5 Louisville (Oct. 21), No. 7 Virginia (L, 0-3), No. 9 Princeton (L, 1-5), No. 16 Boston College (Sept. 30), No. 17 Wake Forest (Oct. 28), No. 18 James Madison (Oct. 2), No. 21 Rutgers (Oct. 23), and No. 22 Duke (W, 5-1).
The Orange (1-1 ACC) return to J.S. Coyne Stadium on Friday for an ACC clash with No. 16 Boston College (5-4, 2-0 ACC). Game time is set for 4 p.m. and will be carried on ACC Network Extra. Syracuse takes on No. 18 James Madison on Sunday for a neutral-site showdown in Villanova, Pennsylvania for a 1 p.m. start time.
