GREENSBORO, N.C. – After a career outing, Syracuse University graduate student Quirine Comans has been selected as an ACC Field Hockey Co-Offensive Player of the Week. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) office made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.
Comans, who hails from Bergen, Netherlands, put away 11 points in two games last week, striking five times for the 10th-ranked Orange, while adding an assist.
Leading the Orange to a pair of wins and a 4-0 record, Comans delivered two goals in Syracuse's 5-0 win at Kent State on Saturday. In the 2022 home opener, Comans had a career outing, scoring the first hat trick in her time with the Orange while adding an assist for seven points. Syracuse notched a 6-2 win over visiting Columbia in the first game at J.S. Coyne Stadium this season.
After leading the team in points last season, Comans is again atop the scoring again this year, racking six goals and three assists for 15 points. The Master of Laws graduate student has at least two points in every game this season, the second-longest point streak of her Syracuse career.
Joining Comans in the weekly league honors were Louisville's Katie Schneider and Julie Kouijzer, who were selected as Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
Ranked 10th in the NFHCA Coaches' Preseason Poll, Syracuse heads to the Garden State for a pair of matches this weekend. On Friday, the Orange take on a Princeton (0-2) team ranked 13th in the first NFHCA poll for a 4 p.m. game at Bedford Field. On Sunday, Syracuse heads for the coast to face Monmouth (2-1) at So Sweet a Cat Field for a noon showdown.
