Syracuse tennis (3-0) defeated Cornell (0-3) 6-1 on Friday afternoon inside the Drumlins Tennis Club.
The 'Cuse captured the doubles point early on, winning all three pairings. The #2 flight of Polina Kozyreva and Ines Fonte took down Emma Baker and Mi Lan, 6-1. Shiori Ito and Viktoriya Kanapatskaya in the #3 flight captured the doubles points with a 6-1 triumph against Tanya Fan and Sofia Iantosca. Zeynep Erman and Miyuka Kimoto closed out doubles with a 6-2 win versus Lauren Stein and Alexandra Savu.
Kozyreva, Kanapatskaya, Ito, Fonte, and Erman all captured singles victories. Kimoto retired in the middle of her second set against Lan Mi. The most exciting singles match of the night was Ernmans defeat of Lauren Stein. The pairing in the #2 flight went the distance, but Erman came out on top (6-3, 7-6, 9-7).
Syracuse will be back in action this Sunday, as it welcomes the Delaware Blue Hens to Drumlines. First serve is slated for 11:00 a.m.
