
Field Hockey Holds Steady in NFHCA Coaches Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Syracuse University field hockey team held firm in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll, remaining in the number 13 spot for a second straight week.
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Coaches Poll was released Tuesday morning.
Syracuse (9-5) nabbed 293 points this week after a pair of top 20 setbacks last week. This week's opponent, Louisville (12-3), dropped to the number eight spot with 538 points.
Northwestern occupied the top spot again this week with 773 points and 24 first-place votes. North Carolina was second with 727 points and five top selections. Duke dropped one spot to third with 717 points and four first-place votes. Rutgers, the only unbeaten team in the top 20, received 688 points and seven first-place votes while Iowa rounded out the top five with 647 points and one first-place selection.
Six of the seven ACC teams were ranked this week: No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Duke, No. 7 Virginia, No. 8 Louisville, No. 12 Boston College, and No. 13 Syracuse.
In addition to the ACC opponents, three 2023 foes were in the top 20 this week: No. 11 Harvard, No. 16 Penn State, and No. 17 Cornell.
No. 13 Syracuse and No. 8 Louisville square off Friday evening in Kentucky. First push is set for 6 p.m. at Trager Stadium on ACC Network Extra.
