
Field Hockey Moves Up in NFHCA Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Heading into the 2023 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Tournament, the Syracuse University field hockey team moved up one spot in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll of the season.
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its week 10 poll Tuesday morning.
Syracuse (10-7), which earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, picked up 257 points this week, moving up one spot from the number 12 spot a week ago.
The Orange take on No. 7 Liberty, which fell one spot this week with 379 points. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Duke University's Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium.
Top-seeded North Carolina was the number one team in this week's poll with 538 points and seven first-place votes. Northwestern was second with 531 points and 20 of the remaining 21 first-place votes. Duke, the host for this weekend's pod involving Syracuse, was third with 483 points and the outstanding first-place vote. Maryland was fourth with 434 points while Virginia was fifth with 429 points.
Nine 2023 opponents were inside the NFHCA Coaches Poll Top 20 this week: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 Duke, No. 5 Virginia, No. 7 Liberty, No. 9 Harvard, No. 10 Louisville, No. 14 Boston College, No. 15 Penn State, and No. 19 Cornell.
