Thorogood Ties 'Cuse Record in Opening Meet

Trei Thorogood tied a school record that had stood for the last 16 years in the 60-meter dash, starting the 2023-24 track and field season in strong fashion, on Friday night.
Thorogood won the 60-meter dash in 6.67 seconds at the Greg Page Relays, hosted by Cornell. The mark ties Michael LeBlanc's Syracuse record in the event that he set in 2007. Thorogood's time was .16 seconds clear of the field. Teammate James Nmah was fifth (6.99 seconds) and Daijon Richards (7.01 seconds), was seventh. Carlton Landingham (7.17 seconds) took 11th in the prelims.
Kahniya James placed second in the women's event, crossing the line in 7.62 seconds, followed by Kaleia Arrington (7.81 seconds) in seventh. Olivia Garner was 0.01 seconds from qualifying for the final, posting a time of 7.83 in the prelims, earning her ninth, while Morgan Marshall (7.86) was 11th.
The Orange continue action at Cornell on Saturday, while a separate group of Orange runners will compete in Boston at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.
