
Orange Host #14 UNC for Breast Cancer Awareness Night

Syracuse is set to host No. 14/16 North Carolina at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, at the JMA Wireless Dome. Fans are encouraged to wear pink for Play4Kay/Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Thursday begins a three-game stretch of games vs. top 25 opponents for the Orange. The game will be live streamed on ACCNX with Ian Unsworth and Will Hentschel on the call.
The Orange are coming off a 79-72 win over Boston College, where they completed the season sweep over the Eagles. Senior guard Dyaisha Fair led all scorers with 24 points and recorded her 2,500th career point. Dariauna Lewis (15) and Georgia Woolley (20) each contributed double-digit performances. Syracuse is 12-3 at home this season, the most home wins in a season in the last five years.
North Carolina lost its game on Sunday against Louisville, 62-55, which ended their eight-game winning streak. Three Tar Heels reached double figures. Deja Kelly totaled 13 points, Paulina Paris scored 12 points, and Anya Poole finished with 10 points. UNC was without two key players, Eva Hodgson and Alyssa Ustby in the loss.
The last time the Orange faced the Tar Heels was Dec. 30, 2021, when Syracuse was defeated, 79-43. Teisha Hyman led SU with 11 points in the road loss at Carmichael Arena. The Orange lead the all-time series, 9-5, with a 4-0 home mark.
Following Thursday's contest Syracuse will travel to South Bend, Ind., to compete against No. 10 Notre Dame on Feb. 12, at Purcell Pavilion.
