
Kanapatskaya and Ito Earn Singles Wins In Orange Loss To Notre Dame

No. 36 ranked Syracuse tennis lost to No. 27 Notre Dame, 5-2, in South Bend, Ind. on Friday Afternoon. Despite the loss the Orange (11-8, 4-8 ACC) fought hard in singles, as four of the five flights extended into supersets.
Notre Dame (14-9, 5-7 ACC) Captured the doubles point, as Viktoriya Kanapatskaya \ Shiori Ito fell to Julia Andreach \ Carrie Beckman, 6-2, and Polina Kozyreva and Miyuka Kimoto lost to Yashna Yellayi \ Rylie Hanford, 6-2.
Down the doubles point early on, Syracuse attempted to storm back and captured a pair of singles flights. Kanapatskaya downed Bojana Pozder 6-4, 6-4, and Ito defeated Beckman in an extended dual, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2.
The 'Cuse wraps up the regular season on Sunday against Louisville. First serve versus the Cardinals is slated for noon. Pairings for the 2023 ACC Championship will be announced at the conclusion of Sunday's matches.
