
Orange Claim Six Event Wins in Local Meet

Six event victories headlined the Syracuse track and field teams' performances at the Cortland Red Dragon Open on Saturday.
The Orange took the top-10 spots in the women's 1,500-meter run. Led by Sydney Nowicki (4:36.06), the 'Cuse contingent bested the rest of the field by 13 seconds. Â Kensey May, racing unattached, was second in 4:37.38. Caroline Kirby was just three hundredths of a second behind her in a new personal-best mark. Olivia Joly (4:40.17), Shanley Koekemoer (4:41.17), Madeline Heintz (4:43.35), Reilly Zink (4:44.37), Siobhan O'Keefe (4:45.54), Emily Nugent (4:45.91) and Bethany Steiner (4:45.92) also competed and finished in the top-10.
Sam Lawler won the men's 1500 while racing unattached in 3:54.76, followed by Ethan Wechsler (3:55.19), Silas Derfel (3:55.92), Jack Whetstone (3:56.29) and Kamari Miller (3:57.11) to sweep the top-five spots. Eamon Burke (3:59.28) and Alex Herbst (4:00.67) finished in seventh and eighth, respectively.
Naseem Smith continued the victories for the Orange, winning the 110-meter hurdles in 14.38 seconds. David Peters (14.44) was second, while Isaiah Lewis (14.96) took fifth. Samuel Mutiso finished 13th to round out the Orange in the field.
Catriona McKeown won the 400-meter dash in 1:00.68. Kristine Krumperfer was fourth, followed by Ariel Haywood and Sarah Eddy in seventh and ninth.
Kaleia Arrington gave 'Cuse its fifth and sixth victories of the afternoon, finishing the 100-meter dash in 12.51 seconds. Morgan Marshall was fourth in 13.08. Daijon Richards was the runner up in the men's event in 11.00 seconds, while Carlton Landingham took 10th.
Arrington led the way by more than a second over the field in the 200, finishing in 25.32 seconds. James Nmah was runner-up in the men's race (22.09 seconds), followed by Landingham (22.66) and Richards (22.70)
Kirstyn Schechter finished in 14.40 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, which earned her second overall. CJ Fox (14.65) was third, followed by Olivia Etienvre and Sheridan McGadden in fifth and sixth. Schechter doubled-down, taking second in the 400-meter hurdles as well, with a mark of 1:03.59 seconds.
In the men's 400, Alexander Segarra and Nmah each finished inside the top-10.
'Cuse continues outdoor action next weekend, with meets at Bucknell and Florida.
