Orange Conclude Regular Season Against Boston College

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse softball plays its last home series of the 2023 season this weekend, hosting Boston College to wrap up the regular season. The three-game set begins on Friday, May 5 at 3 p.m., with game two scheduled for Saturday, May 6 at 1 p.m. The series finale is slated for Sunday, May 7 at noon. Admission to Skytop Softball Stadium is free and all contests will be streaming live on ACC Network Extra.

For the seventh year in a row, Syracuse has clinched a berth to the ACC Tournament. Seeding and matchups will be determined following the conclusion of ACC regular season play. The 2023 ACC Tournament begins on Wednesday, May 10 at Melissa Cook Stadium in South Bend, Indiana.

ORANGE UPDATE:
- Syracuse is riding an eight-game win streak into this weekend, as the Orange swept Virginia in the last series. It's the first Atlantic Coast Conference sweep for Syracuse this season.
- The Orange clinched a spot in the ACC Tournament over the weekend. Syracuse has never missed the ACC Tournament in the Shannon Doepking era.
- A win in the first game of the series would tie the longest win streak under the direction of Doepking, as the 2021 squad took nine-straight games.
- Doepking picked up the 100th victory of her Syracuse tenure with the 12-6 win against the Cavaliers.
- The Orange are red hot offensively, winning each of their last eight games by four runs or more, and scoring 10 or more runs four times.
- In the circle, Madison Knight pitched 15.2 innings in the series against Virginia, while also hitting a homerun in the second game. Knight posted a 2.21 earned run average in 13 appearances in April, striking out 75 batters in 73.0 innings of work.
- Kelly Breen had seven RBIs in the series against Virginia last weekend, hitting 2 home runs in the series finale.Â
- Outfielder Madelyn Lopez is excelling in her first season "On the Hill", leading the team in batting average (.317) and second in on-base percentage (.403).
- At the plate, Tessa Galipeau owned the month of April. The second-year starter led the team in batting average (.404) and on-base percentage (.500) to finish the month.
- The Orange are the youngest team in the conference, as the 10 freshmen on the roster are the most in the ACC.
- Underclassmen account for 73 percent of hits (222-309), 76 percent of RBIs (128-168), and 70 percent of at-bats (843-1204).
- Syracuse remains very strong defensively, ranking fourth in fielding percentage (.969) and tied for third in fewest errors committed (36).
SENIOR SALUTE:
- On Saturday, May 6, the program will celebrate the contributions of the senior class following the final out against the Eagles.
- Rebecca Clyde, Yamila Evans, Kaia Oliver and Geana Torres will all be honored during the Senior Day celebrations.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES:
- Boston College is 21-28 on the 2023 season, sitting in 13th place in the ACC with a 3-18 conference record.
- Sophomore right Abby Dunning leads the Eagles with a 3.98 ERA and 137 strikeouts.
- Boston College has dropped six-straight games, losing all three games against Louisville last weekend.
THE SERIES:
- The Orange and Eagles have met 29 times on the softball diamond, with the series kicking-off in 2000.
- Boston College leads the all-time series, 13-16, holding a 7-3 record against Syracuse in the past 10 meetings.
- The two sides last met in 2021, as the two programs split a four-game series. The Orange outscored the Eagles in the series, 13-10.
