SYRACUSE, N.Y. – As the first season under new Syracuse University field hockey head coach Lynn Farquhar approaches, Pieke van de Pas has signed to join the Orange for the 2023 campaign.
"Pieke will bring maturity and experience to our attacking unit with creativity and finishing abilities," said Farquhar. "Her drive and passion for the game will connect instantly with our core, which we're excited to see take off this season."
Van de Pas currently plays for VMH & CC MOP Dames 1 for head coach Mark Dekker in the Promotieklasse.
Hailing from Weert, The Netherlands, van de Pas brings a high level of field hockey to Syracuse. She has won championships with HV Weert at the MC1, MB1, and MA1 level, and was a member of the HV Weert Dames team that won the 1C Klasse title. On the indoor field hockey circuit, van de Pas won best player honors for the ICC Tournament.
Syracuse stood out to van de Pas as a place to combine top sport and study, while also clicking with the coaching staff and fellow student-athletes. Van de Pas will look to further her education at Syracuse in a human resources field.
The 2023 Syracuse field hockey schedule will be announced in the coming weeks. Please stay tuned to Cuse.com and the team's social media channels, @CuseFH on both Twitter and Instagram.
