Paul O'Donnell wrapped up his season with a 17th-place finish in the 10,000-meter run final at the NCAA Championships, earning Honorable Mention All-America honors, while the two 'Cuse men with semifinal races each extended their stays in Austin.
Jaheem Hayles and Kevin Robertson each qualified for the NCAA final on Friday in their respective events before O'Donnell's race on Wednesday.
Robertson finished seventh in his heat of the 3,000-meter steeplechase, posting a time of 8:43.18, which was more than a second ahead of any potential time qualifiers from heat one. He is 1-of-12 men who will race in Friday's final of the event at 8:24 p.m. on ESPN2.
Hayles got through in the 110-meter hurdles for the second year in a row – marking three-straight NCAA finals for him, including indoor. Hayles equaled his season-best time of 13.47 seconds. Hayles' time was the eighth-fastest overall of the nine runners to reach the final. The top-six qualifiers from the semifinals all set PRs in the event.
O'Donnell stayed with the lead pack for the first half of the 10k in the Texas heat, before a nine-man breakaway pack left the field over the final 11 laps. O'Donnell finished in 29:41.18. His first season in the states concludes with an ACC indoor 5k title, runner-up finish at the ACC Championships in the 10k and becoming an honorable mention All-American.
Amanda Vestri will take to the track in the women's 10k shortly after 11 p.m. eastern on Thursday, before Robertson and Hayles race in their finals on Friday.
