
Field Hockey Moves Up One Spot in Coaches Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Brandishing a 5-0 record, the Syracuse University field hockey team moved up one spot in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll, grabbing the number six spot.
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its weekly poll Tuesday morning.
Syracuse elevated to sixth in this week's poll, garnering 568 points and one first-place vote. Virginia was tied for sixth with Syracuse's 568 points, but did not have any first-place votes. Iowa was slotted first with 802 points and 35 first-place votes while ACC counterpart North Carolina was second with 742 points and three first-place votes. Northwestern was third with 681 points and one top selection as Louisville sits fourth, collecting 642 points with a pair of first-place votes. Maryland was ranked fifth with 626 points.
All seven ACC teams were ranked once again this week: No. 2 North Carolina, No. 4 Louisville, No. 6 Syracuse, No. 6 Virginia, No. 9 Duke, No. 14 Boston College, and No. 16 Wake Forest.
It's a top-10 battle to begin conference play as No. 6 Syracuse heads to Durham, North Carolina for an ACC battle at No. 9 Duke (4-1). Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium. ACC Network will have the broadcast with Matt Krause and Carole Albright on the call.
